Mission Statement

Student Life Research and Assessment (SLRA) is committed to promoting and participating in a culture of research and assessment by sharing its research, educational, and technological strengths with all departments within the Office of Student Life. SLRA strives to serve as a hub of student-centered knowledge that informs learning outcomes assessment in Student Life and The Ohio State University. With productive staff members and researchers, SLRA conducts research and assessment activities aimed at supporting data-driven decision making and program improvement. Through its involvement in national associations and conferences, SLRA also aspires to be at the forefront in advancing research-based assessment that is essential to understanding the student experience.

Goals/Objectives

In accordance with the Student Life Research and Assessment Mission Statement, SLRA will:

  • Conduct vigorous research and assessment to understand various aspects of the student experience at The Ohio State University and how they are related to student learning outcomes.
  • Foster a strong, division-wide culture of assessment and research in Student Life by providing enriched educational and consultation opportunities that build assessment and research capacities within Student Life units.
  • Coordinate the systematic collection of assessment data within Student Life.
  • Communicate assessment results through monthly Research Briefs, adhoc requests, and specialized reports.
  • Advocate for data-driven decision making within the Office of Student Life.
  • Seek-out meaningful collaborations with offices beyond Student Life.
